Tips For A Strong Interview:
1. Role Play
Now I know this might sound weird to some people, but interview role playing with unknown interview questions will give you a chance to practice what you are going to say beforehand. Another tip is to have someone time your answers and make sure to limit them to about 3-5 minutes at the most. You need to be able to tell a story about your resume, but make sure to respect everyone’s time and limit the amount of time spent in the interview. That practice could potentially give you the practice needed to build your confidence and relieve stress. Role playing can help you be rehearsed, but also comfortable. Interviews can be so stressful, so take off some of the worry about what you want to say by practicing ahead of time!
2. Take Care of Your Online Image
Have you ever googled yourself? If you haven’t, that is something you’re going to need to do before an interview. You need to assume that every time you send in a resume you could potentially be googled. Especially if you are applying for jobs that requires you to have a strong online presence such as a Social Media Manager. Since you are now aware that potential employers are looking into you, you need to look into the company. Make sure to have some background knowledge on the company in order to ask questions that will help you decide if the position is for you.
3. Promote Yourself
Shamelessly, unapologetically endorse your skills and promote yourself. Talk about your successes because you are your own best advocate, and no one is going to do it for you. Sell yourself without coming across as bragging or desperate. Be factual, don’t embellish anything and showcase how you have proved yourself in the line of fire. It is okay to be excited about your accomplishments. If you are confident in yourself, interviewers are more likely to be confident in your skills as well.
